Rusk TX drug dealer sentenced to 45 years, after being arrested 26 times

Why are crystal meth dealers on probation for burglary allowed to keep breaking into homes?

Rusk, TX:

Habitual probation violator Micah Jared Staley, 41 was arrested and released for burglary and dealing crystal meth last year in April 2022, despite two previous felony convictions. He was released despite being on probation for a previous burglary in 2015; he was indicted in July 2022 on the drug charges. One month later he was stopped again by Jacksonville PD carrying over 100 grams of meth in his trunk, along with weed, heroin, and methadone. Officials decided it was time to crack down after letting him roam freely about the county and after releasing him over 2 dozen times. Staley was convicted Wednesday March 1, 2023 for the August 2022 drug bust and sentenced to 45 years for intent to deliver.  (Source: OFFICIALS: East Texas man sentenced to 45 years in prison after police find 107 grams of meth in car, KETK)

Micah Staley was placed on probation in Cherokee County while violating his probation in Smith County.

In 2013, Micah Staley was placed on 2 years supervised probation in Smith County for possession, when he was busted again in Cherokee County on two counts of burglary and evading arrest. He pleaded guilty to the burglary charge in 2015 and placed on 12 years probation, courtesy the 2nd Judicial District Court.

Since 2015, Micah Staley has been arrested and released 4 times on drug and parole violations in Cherokee County, despite being on FELONY PROBATION.

Micah Staley was out on bond from April 2022's burglary arrest and violating his probation for the FIFTH TIME when on August 2, 2022, Jacksonville PD obtained a search warrant of his vehicle during a traffic stop. They seized narcotics, landing Staley back in jail and on Cherokee County's fast-track criminal docket. There were no media reports of this latest arrest until he was sentenced in the 2nd Judicial District Court. Micah Staley had been arrested over 20 times in Cherokee County alone over the last 20 years, for Domestic Violence, Burglary, Disorderly Conduct, and numerous catch-and-release drug charges. Someone in the local narcotics division sure loved this guy, but it's time to pull the plug before the public finds out how useful he really was to the East Texas drug trade and law enforcement. When it comes to narcotics being manufactured locally, the Cherokee County District Attorney's office avoids prosecuting potential 3rd Strike Felons to keep them on the streets. They're hoping for a big-time drug bust from a small town idiot they yo-yo in and out of jail.
